A quick note as I leave to go shopping with some of my kids–one stop will be a book store to purchase some research material for my next writing project (another “secret” in addition to the name of the actress who will portray Vinnie). I was advised by a publisher not to let anyone know the subject of my next book–so I won’t.
The actress who might play Vinnie Ream in the film or miniseries seems ideal for the part–she resembles the actual Vinnie physically, and her credentials as an actress are excellent–hope she signs the contract.
I asked the producers who might play Abraham Lincoln--supposedly there are several actors to choose from. . . . but . . . everyone knows the face of Lincoln, so it seems to me that the actor would have to bear a strong resemblance to that great man. My question is this: are there any actors out there who resemble Lincoln? Or would some sort of mask or mask-like makeup be used to change the actor’s face into Lincoln’s?
Many consider Lincoln homely, but study photographs of his face and you might see what I see–in his eyes is an expression of immense kindness and gentleness, while the lines of his face suggest his nature–that of a strong-willed man determined to live by his principles, despite the sorrow and pain he’d suffered much of his life. As Vinnie would say, a face of gentle beauty–an extraordinary face, never to be forgotten.

One of the producers called this weekend — it was a very long call, and very, very interesting . . .
I learned the name of the actress who might portray Vinnie Ream in the film/miniseries. Can’t tell you who she is. Her name must be kept a secret until a contract is signed . . . that is, if she signs the contract.
So, if she does sign, and when the producers say it’s okay, I will share this secret with you . . .
Any guesses who she might be? The clues are in my book . . .
Hello: Last month, my life as a writer changed in an interesting way when I signed a contract to turn one of my books—Letters from Vinnie--into an HBO miniseries or feature film. The producers are now working on their presentation. Not knowing anything about the film industry, I asked one of them, Claudia, to explain a “presentation” and she wrote:
“The presentation we’re talking about would consist of us presenting a outline for a script based on your book and other information about Vinnie. We want to package it with an actress and/or other attachments along with a possible production company that might be associated with the attachment(s). Jay has a friend, (I’m not sure of his name) that is a pre-approved screenwriter with HBO, he has also written historical screenplays. He has agreed to do a screenplay proposal. With this presentation we would hopefully get a deal with HBO for producing and monies for the writing of the screenplay. It could also be a co-producing deal with the attached production company that would also bring in monies for the production. However, all this could change with us going to the attachments first and they may want to option the package and develop it themselves for HBO or a feature. But, at this point Jay and I are putting together a package consisting of the book, screenplay proposal with a possible outline for mini series and/or feature to the actress attachment first and her production company to see if they’re interested first. I hope this isn’t too confusing.”
. . . more to come soon.
