• 2001 - Best Children's Books of the Year Award Bank Street College of Education
• 2003 - First Place Winner for Juvenile Fiction National League of American Pen Women

 

• 2009 - Valley Forge Freedoms Foundation George Washington Medal of Honor was awarded to the anthology of writings, art and music collected in a hard-bound book titled Happy Birthday, Mr. Lincoln: A Commemorative Collage.                                                                                           An excerpt from Letters from Vinnie is the opening selection in the anthology.
